Hello all, and welcome to Two Brown Girls!
OK, so let’s explain. This little corner of the internet, our corner, is now the home of a weekly podcast conceived by us – Zeba and Fariha. As two women of color who write about film, television – industries that are notoriously bad at representing girls like us, if at all, we find ourselves often having conversations about the ratchetry of Hollywood – and, of course, some of the good things too. We thought, well, why not record our conversations and share them with other people?
So, that’s what we’ve done. And here you will find not only our weekly podcasts, covering a wide range of ~hot button topics~ (Who’s sexier? Idris Elba or Michael Fassbender? Why does Benedict Cumberbatch look like curdled milk? Will Ashley Greene ever go the fuck away?) You’ll also find articles and commentary written by the both of us, and maybe even the occasional video blog from time to time. We encourage you to submit questions or ideas for any topics you think we should discuss, and, of course – feel free to call us on our bullshit, should there be any.
Our first post gets published Sunday, December 2 – so stay tuned!
We can’t believe that in December of last year we were just getting this blog and our podcast started with absolutely NO IDEA what we were doing. But we wanted to have a conversation and share our conversations with people like us, and miraculously one podcast episode turned into 41 episodes, and a few listeners and followers turned into thousands. We can’t thank all of you enough for sharing, tweeting, reblogging, liking, and most importantly listening to the podcast every Sunday. Thank you for making our year so much fun – here’s to Happy New Year for everyone.
Love,
Zeba and Fariha
