Soul of Oakland: A People Guide to The Town

I’ve been thinking a lot about gentrification, development and urban renewal over the last few months and today I’m launching the next big project that addresses the issue in hopefully an interesting and productive way.

Soul of Oakland: a people’s guide to the town, is a crowd sourced guidebook to local culture with the goal of highlighting the local events, businesses, cultural institutions, activism and ideologies that define Oakland. The content will be largely sourced from polls and in person interviews and the book will feature essays and tips on topics ranging from how not to gentrify your neighborhood to the political history of Oakland to the best to grab a drink on Friday night.
