Oscar Micheaux (January 2, 1884 – March 25, 1951), was the first African-American to produce a feature-length film (The Homesteader, 1920) and a sound feature-length film (The Exile, 1931). Micheaux also directed Paul Robeson in his first film, the silent feature Body and Soul, 1925. He was honored with a star on Hollywood Boulevard in 1987.
